What is The GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® Methods.
Both The GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® methods can be adapted to fit anyone's ability; they're designed to benefit people from all walks of life.
The exercise sequences are composed of spiralling, circular movements, which flow together seamlessly in rhythmic repetitions with corresponding breathing patterns.
Each movement in the sequence flows into the next, providing the joints an opportunity to move through a natural range of motion without any jarring or compression. These sequences were carefully crafted by Juliu Horvath to create balance, agility, strength and flexibility.
What is the difference between the two Methods?
Both methods are based on the same movement principals. GYROTONIC® exercises are performed on custom-designed equipment, GYROKINESIS® exercise are performed on a mat, chair or standing.
The equipment used in The GYROTONIC® Method allows participants to fine tune their movement by giving feedback and guidance, the equipment stimulates perception within the exerciser to assist and challenge them into a deeper, more active range of movements.
Whereas without the use of equipment GYROKINESIS® participants are dependant on their own proprioception to explore the exercise sequences.
GYROTONIC® classes are usually taught as private sessions or in a small group class. GYROKINESIS® classes are usually conducted as a 1-1.5 hour group class.
